I just bought a Hoover Windtunnel Pro to replace my old Hoover Windtunnel that finally showed enough wear and tear that it needed to go after 25 years.
So where did/does the Hoover Windtunnel rank with Consumer Reports?

Two of the Windtunnel models ranked second and sixth respectively. The model I picked up is a newer model that was released after the most recent tests.

Bagless vacuums are imho a nonsense, I blame a Dyson for some of the worst dust allergy reactions I've ever endured!!

Magoo, I have a Miele as well. I have had it for a few years and has held up well. Their bag acts as a filter, plus it has an additional hepa filter for those of us with allergies. I like that you can adjust vacuum strength on the fly by sliding a cover to expose an air hole in the handle. They are also "safer" for fine rugs because the brush turns with the air flow instead of a belt. I am not sure how it fairs with it's pick up ratings but seems to work well for us. With the base in one hand, stairs are easy to maneuver. I think I'll go vacuum something today

I got a Shark Navigator to vacuum my unfinished basement. There is no hair, fuzz or other crap, just dirt, sand and other junk brought in from the garage, sawdust, and very fine powdery dust that you have on a concrete floor. The bag type vacuums got clogged and lost suction cleaning that sort of dirt, but the bagless Shark does very well. I do clean the filters regularly, but it works better than my previous, much more costly vacuums.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye - Your attention please for an important announcement!!!

This being a forum dedicated to high end audio and music, and finding, to my surprise, that vacuum cleaners have become a hot topic of discussion, I decided to do my part.

To that end, I gathered all my various cleaners and tested them for their tonality and audio output and put them in appropriate places in a lineup destined to make vacuum cleaner music.

I was missing a couple of very important tones, so I borrowed machines from neighbors and have now amassed an almost complete Vacuum Cleaner Symphony, part of which is pictured below.

For our first performance, we will naturally start with the Star Spangled Banner, then on to Mahler's Second Symphony, then the Ravel Bolero.

Amazing just how good my vacuum symphony sounds and I sincerely hope that many of you will attend our premier performace, and failing that, purchase the SACD.

In addition to the vacuums pictured, there are two hand-vacs to add the highest frequencies and three Kirby's which are very believable in their role of sub-woof-vac. for frequencies below 30Hz. There is also an Electro-Lux canister machine which serves as the soloist when Vacuum Concerti are played.

BTW . . . There may be franchise opportunities available in certain markets and I would love to have some of my AA buddies as partners in this new and exciting venture.

.
