Default RC Cars anyone ??

While I did not grow up on RC Cars, it was 1/24 scale slot cars for me, my boys did. Now that I have to grandsons I have a reason to 'play again' and man has the technology evolved........brushless motors, LiPo batteries and cars that just flat out scream !

presntly having fun with a Kyosho Inferno GT2 VE 1/8 scale, electric, 4wd, body is based on the '07 C6R that Ron Fellows drove.

Anyone else involved ?

Sure, raced off and on road, both gas and electric all through my 20's and still enjoy them today once in a while. I enjoy planes and helis too. Had a quite a few trophies with the first ever JRX2 Team Losi buggy.

So good to see many of the kits from the 80's being brought back by Tamiya and even Associated now! It's like revisiting your youth and favorite toys!

Sege, one thing I noticed today vs 20-25 years ago when my boys were into it, is there are so many R-T-R, complete packages offered. To me most of the fun was in the 'build' with my boys, something I'm hoping to re-create with my grandchildren.

BTW, my oldest had an RC-10 back in the day, my youngest a 'Team Losi' buggy

I was heavily into these about 25 years ago. I had a Team Associated RC12i and absolutely loved it. I think about buying a kit again every now and then. Funny, I was just talking about this topic with a guy at work yesterday.

Yes, RTR seems to be the way the whole RC hobby is going. I mean it used to take months to build an RC plane from scratch. Now they have either almost or ready to fly, built up and covered planes ready for power plants of choice or even RTF with everything included and ready to go, even the radio. The most popular group are the park flyers, aka "foamies"...Same with the helis, build one yourself or have it prebuilt in a box.. Still kits available from most manufacturers when it comes to RC cars as well as RTR of course.

I hear you with the joy of building though! Very satisfying to put one of these kits together and watch it go. Especially the higher end kits!

I was pretty into it a while back. That was more than 15 years ago I believe. I had a Kyosho Raider, then Tamiya Lunchbox, then the RC-10. Battery packs, speed controls, shocks, motors etc......Good times
