hi-fi News - Anyone?

Any subscribers to hi-fi News? What do you think?
Am a long-time subscriber to Stereophile, but with the loss of MF and passing of AD it is not what it used to be. Also, too much Chinese gear for my taste.
Not a big fan of TAS with their lack of measurements and focus on the ultra high-end. Only subscribe to read their music reviews (and it's cheap).
So, am thinking the digital subscription to hi-fi News.

I subscribe to the digital edition, cost is $32/year. The measurements aren't as detailed as Stereophile, but they're adequate. The quality of the writing is generally good, better than TAS (but that's not hard), and they tend to stay on point. There are also some interesting articles on music studios and in-depth looks at specific recordings. It is British though, so some of the reviews and articles are more UK-centric, e.g. reviews of equipment you might not see in the US, an article on the state UK radio broadcasting, or reviews of UK audio shows.

Yes, owned by the same people. I subscribe through Apple subscriptions on my iPad using the HiFi News app and it's $31.99 USD.

I previously subscribed to the print edition but dropped it several years ago, along with HiFI Plus when the pricing started getting crazy. I don't care for digital editions so now i am down to just TAS and Stereophile. What I found interesting in Hi FI News was reading about the products that often did not make it across the pond to the US.

I subscribe to TAS and Stereophile. I wish TAS included measurements. Stereophile is very inconsistent. For example, the $215K Tidal Akira measured IMO very poorly in the low end and would produce no audible bass note below 30 Hz. When compared in the same room with the Wilson Alexia 2, the bass output was pathetic. Nevertheless, I knew that JA would give it a full class A rating, which proved to be the case. This extremely expensive loudspeaker is not full range but received a full range class A rating. I don't like the Components issue at all where the components are given rating (Class A, B, C....) which are meaningless. I throw it in the trash.

I browse through hifinews.com randomly when they post news and release reviews for public views. Not a subscriber but do subscribe to both Stereophile and TAS.

These subscriptions are mainly for entertainment. I read/take the reviews at face value with a grain of salt. The publications, at their core, are ads driven. Thus, in many issues why we often don’t see negative reviews, if any.

At the end of the day, IMHO, it’s whatever satisfies each reader so subscribe to whichever fancies you!
