Reason to build your own music server? Fun. Love to tinker. I'm going to take my current build and turn it into a DIY NAS, right after I build a CAPs. Keeps me off the street, and I get to learn stuff.

So I guess the plan is to pull the music from the NAS through the CAPS 3.0 Carbon into the DAC2X? Would there be any benefit to a bigger SSD in the CAPS? |

None. I asked Ted and Howard about this. Both said keep the music on the NAS. I did get the 128GB SSD only because its the same price as the 64GB from SGC.

If you say that, then holy crap are you in for a pleasant surprise. I can't stand the OPPO digital output to a DAC; each and every time my sorely little laptop bests it (easily).

The computer audio guys say that's half the battle. They say JRiver really is superior sounding.

Well, it's thanks to the WASAPI and WASAPI+Event Mode.
Where JRiver really shines is database management. So efficient and sortable now.
