It occurs to me this is a Bryston BDA-3 thread, this discussion might be better moved to a thread on PCM vs DSD.
Dead & Company released their entire 2016 tour in DSD format.

But also in FLAC.
Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure it's a fantastic unit.

Hi Folks,

Please see the attached link - a review from Computer Audiophile Magazine on our Bryston BDA-3 DAC.

Chris rarely gives a recommondation to a product (CASH) award but our Bryston BDA-3 DAC has been honoured with one.

I especially like the comment that to better the BDA-3’s performance would requirer $20,000 dollars or more!

Still enjoying mine.

Nope, it's John Atkinson and Larry Greenhill.

Default BP-2 to BDA-3 Using BNC connection

Recently, I had a special order from Bettercables.com for a 7" BNC coxial blu-truth cable. The cable is short, but its just right. In any event, upon powering everything up, I have discovered that this is the absolute best connection for sound below 96/24 sampling rate. I found the sound stage to be much much larger with instruments having more weight and substance. I can't say if its the short length of the cable, the fact that its BNC or the fact that its blue truth from Better cables. But, I can say its the best sound yet for the BNC connection from the BDP-2 to the BDA-3.
