I was listening to the Oppo last night. The Oppo has less detail as expected. The sound of the Oppo is more organic. Just a quick observation without a real head to head. I'll work on it this weekend.

I appreciate the kind words. I can't wait to really dig in to the system on the weekend!

Give it time...

The esoteric may take up to 500 hrs to really shine.

Leave it running 24/7 if you can.

Great tip thanks!
Edit: can I just leave it on or have something playing?

you need something playing to burn the filters, after you are happy with the filters' sound, just leave it on 24/7 without anything playing for maximum performance when listening to the music.

when not listening to sacd's or cd's, I leave it running 24/7 with the music server.

I believe you need to 'burn in' all inputs you will use. e.g. The USB input AND CD AND SACD...

I found the USB input did get marginally better with time but cannot believe the CD or SACD inputs can ever sound better than they already do!

Congratulations on making two huge steps to long term musical bliss.

Thank you. I feel like the system has really pulled together nicely with the Esoteric. Each upgrade sounded great but left a little something to be desired. The k03x is a great machine. I will definitely break in the inputs as you state. Primarily it will be a disc spinner until my I graduate to a server/ renderer. I used a Cambridge Audio 840c CD player which I still have but I outgrew that as my system evolved. It's been a journey but I'm looking forward to reaching the destination!

Destination? Ha! I felt exactly the same as you when I first got my k-03 non X. Now I want an X. Lol. Actually I will probably wait for whatever replaces the x, or go up to k-01x. Point being... The goal post keeps moving!

I hear you! The goal post keeps moving but every time I kick towards the post, I lose a toe. So I think I have only a few kicks left!!!! I keep saying " I need just that one more expensive shiny silver box and I'm done".
