Listen for this
Hi Folks,
Thought this might be a fun topic. Nuances or sounds you hear now in your system that were maybe masked before or you never noticed before. I was listening to the Beatles LOVE album (first cut BECAUSE) from a download off the DVD at 96/24 on my BDA/BDP setup and in between the vocals you can hear a FLY in the studio that the mic picks up. Give it a listen – it is about 1 minute in. james Last edited by James Tanner - Bryston; 08-29-2012 at 11:38 AM. |

So, if you don't hear the fly, that means the system doesn't have enough
resolution and detail *or* the material being listened is not up to the standard... Scary test eh?

That track has noises from a garden mixed in. From the beginning, you can clearly hear birds chirping and flying across (wings flapping). There is also a fly about 1 minute in, but I do not think it is in the studio.

On Bill Henderson's Live from the Times "Send in the Clowns" cut, you can hear someone popping a cork in the audience about 2/3 of the way through the song! First you hear them wiggling the cork and then the pop.

I was listening to The Oceans last night from Houses of the Holy (on vinyl) and could swear that I hear a squeaky hihat pedal on Bonham's set. Can someone else confirm this for me?
Listening to the new Doors Analog Productions LP, on When the Musics Over, half way through the song, in the more silent passage, you can hear the springs on the snare drum rattling every time a bass note is played. That is kind of cool because you know they are playing live during the take. This music probably isn't listened to much here, but on The Regulator by Clutch you can hear his finger tips rubbing on the fretboard when he does a vibrato and you can also hear his chair squeak as he repositions between notes.
