Default Any sonic reason to play MM ?

My new TT will come with 2 arms.
Should both carts be both MC ? Or one should be MM by any sonic reason ?
I have to find phono stage with two inputs.
Mod Right PH 150 seems to have features that I like, except its two input is one MM and one MC,
So I cannot have two MC carts. Except by using SUT right ?

I personaly don't like swaping cartridges around because if I do it right it's right. Why would I pull off a catridge I like to put on second best. I know you have two arms and I don't know what they are so you could help us out stating what gear your using and getting.

toga - imo with 2 arms available, you could put a real nice mc on one, and a much cheaper mm or mc on the other that you can just pile the hours on and not have to worry about it. great for casual listening or when you are trying records out.
or.... you could go all-out and have something like atlas on one and koetsu on the other....

I should have one cart that provides kick for pop and rock.
And sweet and lush one for classical may be ?
One arm of mine is Tw Acustic 10.5 and the other one. Jelco 750 12"
Still uncertain about carts, or I just leave the Jelco blank for a while.

As Toga indicates, your musical tastes are a factor, as is the type of recordings you have. If you have any older mono recordings, a good mono cartridge like one of the Ortofons might be a way to go.

I have two arms on my ClearAudio, and use one for stereo, and one for mono. I use 2 phono preamps in the setup.

If you do go MM I would recommend the Ortofon 2M Black. I run on a ProJect 9CC arm and it is fabulous.

Jim

of course, musical tastes do come into play here.
but when you have a cart that will inevitably time out at $5 per side play, it's good to have a more affordable cart for when you are just casually listening.
or, you could use digital for those occasions........
the choice is entirely yours.

Yes, I was thinking this way too.

I don't have mono records,
And yes a set of 2M Black and Cadenza Bronze seems appropriate for me.
I am not ready for $8,000 class cart yet. Windfeld is also ok for me, price-wise. Phasemation PP1000
Is a favorite too.
