My name is Alex, I'm 24, and have been an audiophile for about 4 years now. My system is sort of influx as I'm selling off some of my HT, but right now I'm using Dynaudio C2s, and these won't be leaving the system. My source is a Logitech squeezebox feeding an integra DHC 40.1 and a rotel 1075 amp. I've also got a parasound p3 and an audio refinement multi two that I was using.

My end goal is to end up with a Mcintosh front end, which I first loved when I went to a local high end store. And thanks to the great community here, I'm definitely inspired to make my system happen after seeing all the awesome systems here. The goal is a C2300 and MC452.

Finally, I love all music but country. My favorite genre would be metal, but that's not exactly audiophile quality stuff. I also prefer alt or indie music, and some classical. I can't say I've ever gotten into jazz, but I'm willing to test the waters.

Anyways, nice to meet you all, and I'm happy to join the community.
Welcome! Congrats on the Dynaudio C2 speakers, those should be a great for building upon to create your dream system.

Metal/rock/alt were my first musical loves. Metallica, Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Aerosmith, and Live all received very heavy play in my systems through the years. When you find great recordings in such genres, please let me know.

I highly recommend room treatments for use with this type of music. There is typically so much mid-bass and midrange energy that small and mid-sized rooms can be overloaded and 'ring' very easily.

Alex... a warm welcome to AA. You are already on your way to the McIntosh front end gear by clearly stating it, writing it down, and posting. Enjoy the journey along the way.

Jimmy

I've made some very recent changes by moving the speakers into my movie room and selling off some of my stuff, and right now I do like what I hear, but I know it can get better. The system consists of Dynaudio C2s, a Rotel RMB 1075 5 channel amp at 125x5 (only two driven), an Integra DHC 40.1 pre/pro in direct mode, an APC HD15 power conditioner, and a logitech squeezebox classic using its digital out. I also have two GIK bass traps behind each C2. My cabling is a mix of Blue Jean, Audioquest, Tara Labs, and Shunyata.

I want to upgrade the amp, add a preamp, add a dac, add a new power conditioner, add some more bass absorption, and at least upgrade the speaker cables, and probably the other cables as well. My proposed gear list would be an MC452, a C2300, a PS Audio PWD or W4S Dac 2, a PS Audio P5, and I'd like to add the Kimber Select cabling to my system.

My question for you guys, is which piece should I buy first, and then from there where do I head? I really want to buy the MC452 first, but I'm not sure if that would get me the biggest gains; it sure would look cool though Thanks for your input!
Alex... I think you will get a better response to your questions if you start a new thread. Also I would highly consider becoming an AA member there are always some great deals on some beautiful equipment right here on AA!! Right now there are some nice deals on some mc402's.
