Default Visit to VPI

Mark, a friend & fellow audiophile, and I paid a visit to Steve Leung of VAS in Cliffwood, NJ today to drop off a few items that need Steve's attention. We noticed that VPI was next door. In fact, Steve told us that he and VPI had traded spaces in the business park as VPI needed more room and Steve wanted to shrink. After a very pleasant visit with Steve we walked thru VPI's front door and there was Harry Weisfeld going thru a shelf of LPs. We ask if there was any chance we could "have a look" and Harry, and soon, Matt, were more than pleased to give us a tour, which included a listening session at Harry's house (where there will be a public gathering/listening session this Friday afternoon - feel free to join in). To say they were the consummate hosts is not to say nearly enough. As the following pic's will show, they could not have been more forthcoming and gracious. Our many thanks to them for taking the time to do so.
Behind Matt you may be able to see at least 100 tonearms in various stages of production. Matt explained that every motor (not the DD motors) must be taken apart and VPIized to insure a long, trouble-free life. The attention to detail in their operation is obvious and every VPI owner should feel very confident that Harry & Matt "have their back" on their products.
We enjoyed a listening session at Harry's house, which is just down the road. Sound thru the Tannoys from an AT cartridge made to Harry's spec was wonderful. The Tannoys were still being broken-in and will be used with an ARC front-end at the up-coming Capital Audiofest, which should be a great show. Harry has many other amazing speakers at home to go with the Tannoys.
