Thanks for confirming, I don't have any 12A variants yet, but will give them a try - will be hard to beat the CX-301A though.

But 5933 tubes are noticeably less expensive and are bound to have the same internals as the 5932. Besides, top caps are awesome!

Does anyone know if I can use my newly aquired TJ full music 274b/n/+ tube in an LP-2? My current favourite tube in my pre is a Sophia Princess 274b mesh plate. Hoping a “superior” designed tube from the same manufacturer will best it.
Apparently Dennis has said its safe to use in his power amps (non infinite PS) but I am unsure of his pre’s.
Looks like this tube draws 4amps instead of 2amps of the regular 274b

Thanks

I would not use it in the preamp until is cleared with one of the Toy Factory. BTW, the Sophia tubes were made by TJ. The owner of TJ passed and Psvane bought the small signal tube-making equipment.

Be careful with the tubes with tungsten filaments. They are usually very microphonic. IMHO, it's probably best to get these old tubes from a solid dealer and avoid the auction site.

I did get a pair of NOS NU 71a's from Tube World Express and they are settling in nicely.

I have not tried the 12A varients.

I don't know how he does it, but Dennis showed me Friday, he has completely eliminated the microphonics in the LP-2030 design.

Even tapping on the 01A tubes didn't cause them to ring.....

I have a pair of Cunningham CX371-A that are very nice, not quite up to the CX301A IMO but close. Have a matched pair of 112A on the way - will be my first try at the 12A varients.

I could have had a pair that did not come from Dennis that were duds.

The 2030 is indeed a special preamp.
