Cyril.......The VPI Classic 3 is the first VPI turntable to capture my interest. It looks super, and evidently performs well above its price point. If I were looking for another turntable, the VPI Classic 3 would be a contender.

Dan... The Classic 3 got very good reviews from both TAS and Stereophile in the most recent issues (which I obviously posted above and in another thread for the TAS review).
It also sounds like the next iteration of the Classic tt is going to have magnetic drive (a la some of Clearaudio's turntables). |

Beautiful table, not sure if I will upgrade from the Classic 1 to the 3. If I do the Classic 4 will come out the next week. Does anyone use the peripheral ring clamp every time they put on a record? I find it hard to clean off my stylus each time and if a record is badly warped I just toss it. Does it sound that much better on flat records. I think I may do more damage with it, such as banging tonearm, records and dropping it than good. I may be more worse than most though since I can't use a turntable without a cueing lever.

I use the outer ring pretty much every time...it adds to the bass imho...
