Are the new D3 black paint polishable?

I noticed when I was at the dealer, hairlines are easy to have even on the 802D3.... are you guys able to polish this? Say using a car polish/wax? Or not a good idea?

The paint would have a clear coat on it which allows you to cut/polish to remove marks and swirls.

Applying wax will add a protection layer between the paint/clear coat. Alternatively you can use a ceramic perminate paint protection for long term cove.

I have seen a B&W factory video of the workers using a buffer and polish on the heads prior to shipping.

I have been there to see them do it (and for other reasons). The entire factory operation is impressive.

If the demo speakers have hairline scratches then they were improperly maintained. It's important to use the softest microfibre or feather duster with piano black. What I usually do is blow compressed air to remove as much dust prior to dusting them with a microfibre duster. A Few times a year I spray Zaino Z6 wax to the finish. I have never put any fine hairline scratches on my former 802d2s using this technique and they look as good as the day they came out of their boxes.

I lightly use a swifter duster for all my gear including the B&W 802D2s and B&W 803D2s. No one touches any of these (warning given ) so there are no finger marks. Never felt the need to do more.

There are a few automotive paint treatments (opti-coat for one) that significantly reduces swirl marks.

Yes on several cars and a pair of gloss black bookhelf speakers. Excellent results.
