In general, I prefer the sound of SF above Focal, but I have to admit I haven't heard neither the Aida, nor the EMs...

Ivan - It seems to me it's more of a business decision rather than which speaker sounds better than the other.

I went through almost similar decision recently. I have decided to upgrade my Utopia Scala V2. While I was almost certain that I would buy Aida at that time (after brief demo) I ended up with Utopia Stella. As much as I would like to get the Aida (I get a really good deal from dealer), I found it is too relax and musical to my liking vis-a-vis to Stella.

I auditioned Aida on ARC Ref250, Goldmund Telos250 and Linn Klimax500. None of it could match Stella speed, accuracy and flexibility on MC2301 or MC1.2kW. Stella allows me to listen to all genre without feeling I compromising. It excel in everything - classical to heavy metal.

Aesthetic wise, Aida looks much better but I can't lie to my ears. I am happy with my decision but must admit Aida sounds really good when Mary Black singing.

I know Stella is not Grande. But Grande got to be better than Stella, I would think.

I would say no. Here is my logic. You absolutely love the sound that the SF Aida produces. There is also tremendous synergy between the Aida and your Burmester components. You said yourself that the Aida can accurately reproduce a live performance at full concert levels. The system has totally exceeded expectations, confirmed by the jaw-dropping compliments of AA members that have heard it for themselves. I would say why risk all that to try to chase better sound, which you may not even achieve. Your system is already at the top of the mountain. Enjoy the view!

I thought listening to your SF Aida system was simply amazing. However, I too have always been partial to the Focal Utopia line so I would seriously consider them as well especially if you are going to carry that line.

This would have to be much more than a business decision for me. The Utopia Grand EM would have to really "knock me out" before I ever dropped that kind of coin.
