Default B & W 802D1 problem distortion tweeter

Hi.
Yesterday, listening to the eight symphony of Shostakovich, and the strong sound a mass of violins, noticed a big distortion on the left tweeter speaker. It is distortion disappeared, or at least much attenuated by lowering the volume of the pre-amplifier. I've done all wiring changes necessary to rule out a problem with the electronic channel. They think it is a problem in the tweeter, or rather a problem of crossover?

First thing to do is to swap the speaker cables on the back of the power amp.

If the distortion is still present in the left channel, it must be coming from the tweeter itself.

Yes, I made changes in cables, so I know the problem is with the speakers. I do not know is whether the problem is with the tweeter (as I suppose) or crossover (as assumed my dealer)

i have an 805D2 which I bought second hand off a dealer. One tweeter was replaced as it was damaged in the showroom. When I took it home and cranked it up on loud volume the one tweeter would distort and breakup. Happened at certain frequencies and went away when the volume was reduced. Still under warranty so ended up taking it back and they replaced the tweeter again, now no problems.

Welcome to AA, madfonzy!

I have an new 800 series D2 midrange if anyone needs or wants one. I had an 802 that they replaced the mid under warranty, but there wasn't anything wrong with the mid, it was a mistake.

Its fairly simple to unscrew and swap the tweeter over to see if that is causing the issue. I would do that post double checking cables and swapping output channels on the amplifier.
