I use Harmonic Rsolution System's Nimbus Couplers and Spacers under my ARC Ref 7. Not cheap but work very well to isolate the unit: Nimbus eliminates component chassis noise

Vibrapods and Vibracones are an extemely cost-effective solution, they come in several weight ranges. Most mac gear would probably fall into the heaviest-duty capacity/load range, no price difference per range. One thing to watch out for with the Vibrapod stuff is they leave plastic/vinyl chemical residue that sticks to your audio furniture and is nearly impossible to remove. The company recommends coasters and/or wood for furniture protection. Some of the best non-cost-effective products for vibration control are made by a company called Finite Elemente.

Those look like coasters. The manuals probably say to place your favorite libation on top of each and you will not worry about vibration. Of course the shakes might be a different story.

I saw this article on Gizmodo. I think the Hi Fi industry has known about the importance of Vibration Control for quite some time now.
I can't be the only one who's wondered—even stabilized by several screws in metal mounts—how can hard drives sift through so much minuscule data amidst minuscule vibrations? A new study suggests what we've long suspected: They can't. ...well, not all the time, at least. In a study conducted Julian Turner, traditional hard drive racks were replaced with the prototype carbon fiber AVR-1000. It's engineered to reduce vibration across a slew of frequencies. And as the vibrations were thwarted, random read and write times for 3.5-inch drives saw major improvements. |
