Looking for best bang for the buck amp stand
Hi,
Anyone pls advice me your experience on any of these amp stand. Looking to buy one for tube power amplifier. 1. HRS S1 2. HRS M3X < is it a worthwhile upgrade over S1, for amplifier ? 3. SRA Ohio XL 4. Finite Elemente Pagode Edition 5. Symposium Ultra Is there really sonic different between each of them ? I have all Finite Elemente for other pieces, but use them as a rack rather than expecting any sonic performance, recently FE price has gone up a lot that I am looking for something else. Toga |

Hi ,
A significantly cheaper option , which would serve you just as well is a four legged Component Stand from Stillpoints . These have have been discontinued and pop up regularly on the used market . Outfit them with the first generation Stillpoint cones or better still the ultras and you are good to go . All the best . |

FE has been sold. The new owner isn't into furniture for high end audio.

Those are all good products, though if you're looking for "best value", look no further than Taoc. I chose a Taoc SCB-RS50G board for my tt (and use Taoc racks). It is tremeandously heavy & based on solid science and research. The board is made with a layer of cast iron powder sandwiched between layers of high density MDF and finished with 7 layers of a special coating which contains metal powder. There are also optional spiked feet/plates available suitable for carpeted or solid floors. Taoc are actually a Toyota Group company, so they have a lot of research dollars behind them. And the best part? The price! The price 12 months ago anyway was just $650US!
Here is a link to the catalogue (refer page 12) - http://www.taoc.gr.jp/pdf/catalog/2011-5-AllAcce_hp.pdf Last edited by Bodhisattva; 11-06-2012 at 03:16 AM. Reason: added link |

As long as we're talking bang for the buck, let me humbly toss a DIY option into the fold:
3" maple butcher block from Overstock - 16x22 is ~$100 shipped 4 threaded cones from Simply Physics - $20 shipped

I went this route for the Monoblocks I have. Cost me alittle bit more though.

Hi, guys
I already have TAOC RS50G under my RSA Maxim power conditioner. playing music loud and I can feel it vibrate with my hand on top of it, but after spiked, it vibrate much less. OK, actually the X Material of my Wilson vibrate too, also aluminum Magico Q3 vibrate too. TAOC RS50G is 17x19 inches, too small for my amp. But actually I just order HRS S1 19x21. stiff price, but much less than SRA Ohio XL2. My dealer don't sell VR Series, he said it's not worth for him to import it, weight and tax are high so I has to sell product that make some more profit. I will get HRS rack just before year end. Finite rejected because of price, too expensive. TAOC too small. SRA Ohio way too expensive. Thanks for all suggestions. |
