I’m glad I’m not the only one who found it funny.

It is extreme, granted. But it does frustrate me when people come up to me and ask if they can get a turntable to connect to their Bluetooth speakers. Eventually I might snap too like these guys.

As an audio hobbyist, I know I can be a bit of an elitist snob at times. I guess what bothers me about this is that it is the height of elitist snobbery. Whatever we may think of the idea of a cheap Bluetooth turntable, it might be all that some kid can afford. To take something new like this, whatever we may think of it as audiophiles, and destroy it for the sake of a few likes and laugh emojis just strikes me as too wasteful to be funny. To each his own.

You would be paying extra for the Bluetooth functionality. For the price of Yamaha’s Musicast Bluetooth turntable you could have gotten a serious manual turntable. Even the non Bluetooth version of the AudioTechnica he destroyed is way cheaper. Hook it up to an AudioEngine USA active speaker and you’d have the start of a wonderful system.

Funny thing is there’s some audiophile gear whose boxes would probably survive that incessant beating.

At first glance at the video and without sound, I thought he was demonstrating the stresses encountered during shipping with our best “package delivery services”.

Agreed. Plus the broken pieces flying around the room can easily damage his other gear that he has set up. Seems pointless.
