The Soundstage Global May 6 coverage has pictures of the new Evidence speakers, but here's the text:

"Dynaudio was not playing their new Evidence Platinum loudspeaker, but they were displaying it in one of the Munich Order Center's large atriums. This update of the classic Evidence-series loudspeaker includes a new aluminum front baffle, new drivers all around, upgraded crossover components, and a reinforced cabinet. The price is not presently set, but, according to a company representative, is expected to be around 50,000€ per pair."

Maybe Mick can tell us more ....

Just picked up my first pair of Dynaudio's and they have about 16 hrs on them now. I always wanted a Dynaudio speaker and am running a low power amp and so when the Excite series came along that seemed ideal. I love mini monitors and so I finally took the leap. I think I'm going to like them...

Default Contour S3.4e2

Rather than start a new thread, I decided to revive this one for now....

Yesterday I received a pair of Esotar2 tweeters to upgrade my Contour S3.4 speakers, replacing the Esotec tweeters than come with them. What I got are the E110 model from the Dynaudio Automotive line. To install them all I had to do was swap the faceplates, removing the E110 ones and attaching the Contour faceplates. The complete install took no more than about 30 mins, requiring remaving of the lower woofer and tweeter and subsequent reinstallation after swapping the faceplates. I was able to do it leaving the speakers standing in place. On a difficulty level of 1-5, I would say it was a 1.5, with the .5 going to the fact you need to be mindful of the strong magnetism.

Initial impressions are that it is going to be a great upgrade. I already hear a lot more detail, clarity & definition, and imaging seems more accurate and three-dimensional. They open everything up more. It's like a veil has been lifted. That's the good part. These need a lot of break-in and I can hear it. On some music things can sound a bit harsh and unbalanced. Right now I have less than a few hours on them. It will be interesting to see how things go as they break in.

That 300 hour magic point everyone talks about is still a long way off.

Henceforth, my speakers are now called S3.4e2.

Congrats, Dean!

Let us know how they progress...

This is an upgrade I will likely be doing next year...after I pay off my Triton and Zitron purchases!

The first hour (playing some classical) was not so great...buyers remorse inducing. Now they are starting to sound much better. I've been playing jazz so far this evening, but am about to see how they do with some classical.

Sometimes these Esotar2 tweeters seem like they are bi-polar. One minute they sound like a downgrade (yuk), the next they blow me away with how fantastic they sound. I knew going in that break-in can be disappointing at times. I let them play with an internet radio station all day while I was at work to help things along.

Now they have maybe 12-15 hours on them. At the moment I am playing Sonny Rollins "Way Out West" (an original 2nd release black/yellow label LP on contemporary) and I have to say WOW!!! I am hearing some really scary-uncanny realistic detail and imaging. Everything has just popped out into the room. Sax, bass, drums all very clearly detailed and three-dimensional. If this is what I have to look forward to in the end, it will be a huge upgrade for me.

This afternoon I took the Esotec tweeters that came out of the Contours and put them in my Audience 72 for the home theater.
