Default The magical Typhon

Having added a Typhon and Anaconda Zitron umbilical to my Triton about two weeks ago, I would like to add my observations on what the Typhon accomplishes in a high end audio system. Most of us are aware of the magic the Triton and Zitron PC's are capable of. The addition of the Typhon and suitable umbilical succeeds in raising the bar of ones system in a subtle but undeniable way. Musical notes acquire a distinctness and"wholeness" which was previously absent. Each note seems to become clearer and more of a whole. There is a definite decrease in the noise floor of the presentation, the overall effect is of a greater wholenes and smoothness of the music. It is extremely difficult to quantify the changes wrought to the music by the Typhon, as I said the effects are subtle but oh so crucial for SOTA presentation. Evaluating a Typhon is not so simple as disconnecting it from the system to A/B the results. One must simply listen to your system with the Typhon for a period of time, then disconnect it, listen for a while, then return the Typhon to the system. The beauty and whole ness to the music should be quite audible now, but remember, it is an improvement in feel and the "realness" of the music. The music seems to be less electronic now. I'm sorry if my attempt at description of the effects of the Typhon are so humble, but I urge my fellow audiophiles to somehow audition it in your own systems or just take the expensive plunge. There is no component upgrade known to me which comes anything near the importance of the Triton/Typhon. Steve

Thanks Steve, very nice write-up.

Isn't the Typhon supposed to be paired with a Triton?

That is correct Jim, Typhon is an accessory to the Triton.

BTW, don't forget that you have a significan't audioquality upgrade available on your CDP/Streamer 808.3 to 808.5.

I am not sure where to allocate my next audio dollars. The upgrade to v5 is surely one possibility.

Try to fit it in your budget of your next endeavour, you won't be dissappointed. Reading this review was like a spot-on description of that upgrade.

But it also apart from completely exchanging the powersupply of the 808.3 also upgrades the electronics with a new level of jitterperformance. The result is fantastic which.you will undoubtletly hear in your awesome setup.

Although the Typhon was purposely designed as an add-on accessory to the Triton, could it be used beneficially with a Cyclops or even a Talos?

Yes, since the Typhon operates in parallel and can be used with any of our current or past power distributors/conditioners. The Typhon is especially beneficial when used with power amplifiers. Plug it into the same outlet that the amp is plugged into or into a Cyclops or Hydra-a Model-2 if you are using one of these to power the amplifier.
