Just sorted a weird problem with my sp3 when using balanced 1 analogue imput on 2 channel bypass with sub. I recently changed projectors and needed 180ms of audio delay which the sp3 provided perfectly. However, the sub was out of sync with the 2 front channels using analogue bal 1 with sub. I had adjustments set to global so all inputs had 180ms delay, including bal1. So I reset to individual, kept DVDs and sat on 180ms, but 0ms on bal1 and everything is fine. My point is, since bal1 2 channel bypass bypasses all digital circuitry, the L and R are NOT delayed whether using a sub or not, but if you DO use a sub, the sub itself IS affected by any lypsinc delay, so MUST be set at 0ms delay.

You need to contact Stan at Bryston. He knows the SP3 backwards.

I had a similar problem. Occasionally the player would sync on the wrong audio format creating the noise you described. Moving to the SAT input improved the situation when using an older firmware. The SAT input had code to look for syncing issues. I also tried changing the HDMI startup and HDMI delay which might have helped a bit.

I suggest trying the following with the latest firmware first.

Upgrade to 2016.04b firmware:
http://support.bryston.com/downloads...are/readme.txt
Sound Processor Firmware
http://support.bryston.com/downloads...rmware/SP3.bin

In the release notes:
Added OTHER parameter HDMI-PCM-192k = DISABLE/ENABLE to
improve detection of Dolby THD and DTS HDMA lossless high resolution formats (DISABLE prevents mis-detection during Dolby THD and DTS-HDMA formats switching but prevents playback of the 192k PCM from that source. Selecting HDMI-PCM-192k = ENABLE allows PCM 192k playback (and allows all other formats as well) but may occasionally cause a loss of synch when a player playing Dolby THD or DTS HDMA formats switches back and forth between that and the PCM format too frequently (this applies to some but not all cable boxes and media players). Default is HDMI-PCM-192k = ENABLE . This parameter does not affect the ability to play 176.4k or lower PCM rates.

Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks.

I think I found the solution and is working since the change. I switched the HDMI STARTUP to EDID, rebooted the SP3 and all good!

I hope if anyone has the same issue will see this post and help them.

Since you found the solution to your problem on your own, I will be contacting you if I have any future problems with my SP3.

I think you must be confused. The cube designation is for amplifiers not pre-amplifiers/processors.

This may be a Dishnetwork problem, an HDMI problem, or an issue with my SP3.

I noticed yesterday during the football games that I'm only getting two channel sound, when playing my Dish DVR through the SP3. The SP3 display says input is Dolby D 5.1, Out:2/0.1.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Also, plays surround sound when on my Roku, different input.
