Thanks Ivan for a terrific write-up and congratulations Howard on putting together such a fantastic system. From the pictures I have seen posted here it looks fabulous, and I have no doubt it sounds that way too! Your system is comprised of just about everything that I would want to have if I were to put together my "dream" McIntosh system. As Ivan said, I also hope you and Val continue to enjoy it for many years to come!

Howard.......Having followed the hkval sound system saga for a few years now, and watching it evolve to the audio system dreams are made of, I congratulate you and Val for making the commitment to pull out the stops and take it to this level. I understand, share, and support the desire to bring out the very best in your sound system. I also share many of the same components and accessory details in my systems that you have incorporated. I have a deep appreciation for the planning, the physical and mental effort, assembly, attention to details, and the financial investment required to bring the big picture into sharp focus. You have stepped up and hit a tremendous home run over the center field wall. Way to go my friend. Here's to many pleasurable years of audio nirvana in Naples.

First, as I mentioned earlier Howard has been working on his system for over 3 years. The goal was like many of us; to get to our "Sweet Spot" with the least amount of hassles and mistakes. I shared with Howard all my knowledge and tips; basically what has worked for me, and what didn't.

Howard ultimately selected the XRT1K's driven by MC1.2KW's powered by twin Purepower 2000's. Source components are the C1000C/T, MCD1100, Olive 04HD, all Wireworld Silver Eclipse/Electra cables & PC's. Subs courtesy of JL F113 x 2 on Sound Anchor stands. Room treatments and traps by ASC, vibration control by Symposium.

The symmetry of the system is truly amazing; female vocals are sublime in their presentation with a terrific soundstage. The speakers themselves are line arrays, and quite large; however in Howards system their placement is unidentifiable. Jennifer Warnes voice eminates from center stage at a palpable height for this singer. Her voice, and for that matter every breath is clearly defined which once again lends to the remarkable experience.

At modest levels the music is very inviting, and ever so pleasing to the ear. On the other hand, when we let the "System Breathe" on Larry Carltons "Take me Down" at a more robust level, the system let's you know in a hurry "I can deliver the goods".

Carlton's track is a terrific demo, as it is full of dynamics, and great separation. Howard's system handled this marvelously; I am very familiar with this track, as I use it to evaluate many systems.

The Harmonica was accurate, effortlessly reproduced with astounding dynamics. The best description would be "intoxicating" and begged to be let off the chain.

I could go on and on, but the conclusion will still be the same. The Synergy, as well as careful seup, and integration of everything has earned this rig a 5 star rating from this listener.

Howard, I commend you on the system you have so painstakingly assembled. Undoubtedly it will yield a lifetime of enjoyment for you and Val.

Outstanding Job!
I am sure all of you understand how special and meaningful Ivan's 2 posts in this thread are to me. Everytime I sent him a PM over the past 3 years, his response was immediate . One time, he actually called while I was still typing a note to him(he has ESP). Each time I visited his home, it was a learning adventure. We both knew we were friends from the instant we met.
He put me in contact with the guys at ASC, PS Audio, Wireworld, Symposium and others who were invaluable in helping me make good decisions. But, the best help comes the members of this forum. My home has a Welcome Mat at the front door for AA members. (It's just getting past the armed guard at the front gate that can be difficult)
Thanks to everyone,
Howard

Howard & Ivan,
It's a real treat to read this knowing how much time and effort has been dedicated to Howard's system. I can tell Ivan got a kick out of finally seeing it.
