Default YADPT (Yet another dinner party thread)

So... In order to attempt to redeem myself with Dennis (since I had the unfortunate incident of having to flake on him), I figured I'd post the reason for the departure - I had to entertain some guests the night before; and like some guests, they sort of decide to stick around for awhile.

Pics go down in a fairly chronological order, starting with the menu. This was one of those fairly last minute deals ("Hey, I am coming up this weekend, I will buy you dinner....[10 minutes later] Hey... how about I buy the groceries and you cook dinner?") So this was a fairly last-minute deal, and rushed; the guests didn't arrive until after 6pm, and one of them wanted to learn how to make the main course (which when done right takes 4-5 hours to cook). So, part Food Network and part Sommelier, I had to spring into significant action...

The menu fairly explains it all, but the "Peruvian Duo" as I call them were quite fun. To the left were three seared prawns with a sliced garlic and chardonnay 'reduction' and to the right is a proper cebiche - sashimi grade chilean sea bass sliced against the grain in fresh lime juice, meyer lemon juice, sweet onion, Peruvian yellow hot pepper, and served traditionally (including a shot of 'leche de tigre' or tiger's milk - believed to be an aphrodisiac)

Quick run-down of the pairings:
Heirloom caprese & burrata was with the 2007 Camelot Highlands Chardonnay (Santa Rita Hills, CA)
Peruvian Duo was with the 2006 Pahlmeyer Chardonnay (Napa - Carneros, CA)
Osso Buco was with the 2006 Von Strasser Cabernet Sauvignon (Diamond Mountain - Rainin Vineyard)

Last pic is just pure hedonism during the after-dinner.

Enjoy.

Now if you'd been able to come there would likely be pics. I always get so wrapped up in the event that I forget all about taking pics.

I know the feeling - 9/10 times I have to assign someone as the "official photographer."
