I have a nice Firemagic grill for easy gas grilling but am thinking a pellet type for smoking.

Just pulled the trigger on a Rec Tec pellet grill. Universally praised. Check it out on Amazon. I am so excited I ordered 200 pounds of pellets to go with.

i have an extra large green egg and a large weber summit gas grill. completely different. i do mostly briskets on the egg. very efficient; i can burn 1 load of lump for 24 hours at 225 degrees. can grill hot to sear steaks at 600 degrees but very hard to cool down to finish up. i use gas grill for quick cooks. so many designs of smokers; much like audio gear. depends on what you want to spend but they all get the job done. some just much easier to control temps and burning wood.
