They are two different animals. Just off the cuff, the bass is puffier and fuller (that could be how it interacts with the MC601's). I have to confess my RCA cables are not anywhere near the caliber of WireWorld or Transparent. I'll have a better impression tonight and I am sure the ET5 is not anywhere near broken in. The 077 is beyond reproach and very even and natural top to bottom. The 077 does not emphasize anything and it a true window into the rest of the system. The 077/911 combo is impressive and it probably does not get much better. The ET5 has an ever so slightly forward sound stage and seems a little thicker (if that makes sense). I really like what the ET5 does to the mid range and especially vocals. I love female vocals and love what a good tube system does to them. The Burmester combo is the closest thing to tubes without any of the perceived drawbacks. It is the most refined sound I've heard. It would be very interesting to hear an all C-J system. Maybe someday. I am sure my ears are not as good as many of the members ears, but I know what I like. I like the ET5 very much. Could it replace the 077? Possibly. I like the variety. I've got a great mix of equipment now to keep me busy. When the weather turns a little colder, I see an ET5 and Manley 250 combo in the works. Now that will be something to look forward to for sure. Possibly too much of a good thing. We'll see.



ps I am almost getting too much bass on some songs (no sub-woofers), time to move the speakers and experiment.

The seller will be moving overseas and is selling all his equipment. He had a beautiful pair of LP 275M's he was selling also My fundsalow or they would have been in the car also.

He had the ET5 maybe 6 months. It is spotless.
