Where are Klipsch Made?

Those two things can still be done later if it becomes more affordable for me. I'm pretty sure I can get the motorboard out by emptying the cabinet and pounding it out from the inside with a rubber mallett. The reason I say that is because Bob is now making new motorboards for Heresy's and he even offered to make me some Cornwall boards with the right spacing for the mid-horn. Keeping the woofer where it is doesn't leave much material for support between the drivers.

My wife didn't like the cain grills so Bob also sent me some grill cloth and I was fortunate enough to get some grill frame boards from Budman at his house.

Wow! You're making great progress with your '84 Cornwall mods. Mr. Crites and Company make it possible to go way beyond just restoring Klipsch speakers, their upgrades are superb

Back in the 80's I almost bought a pair of Belles from Audio Labs here in town, but they were $2575/pair at the time, so I went with a new pair of lacquered walnut '84 Cornwalls instead for $1300. Twenty years later Klipsch priced the Belles at $5500 so I held off once again, and then a year or two later they were discontinued

I had a pair of Belle's for awhile, but the WAF was never good on them so they had to go. They would be very easy to build since Klipsch cabinets don't require much wood working skill to put together. Most joints are butt type with no locking done at all! Nothing secret hidden in there just straight forward design that sounds good.

Wherever they were made probably does not matter as I'd venture say it will move to China as part of a cost cutting to increase profits. The day the brand moved out Hi-Fi stores and into chain outlets was the beginning of the end for the brand anyway. Nothing more painful than seeing this brand compromised with bottom dollar products.

It was inevitable as the small shops started to disappear. The Audiovox name just says cheap to me.

Quick background. Been in Audio for a while. My very first set of speakers where a set of Mangepans 1.6QR's back in 2002.

Every manufacture has had to introduce some variance of a more inexpensive model. Mercedes with there C class. Porsche with their boxer. BMW with there 1 series. Klipsch with the Ref line and all the way to the tiny (high WAF) speakers. the rest of the speaker manufactures must have a bigger customer base to survive in this global economy. All anyone has to do is a quick google search to find what you are looking for and it's related competitors.

Is it unfortunate... yes and no. Unfortunatly a company has to adapt or they become the next "Remember when x was still around" conversational topic
