So here's the most recent scoop on the new ride...everyone is familiar with the auto industry chip shortage. My car was affected which is why it was delayed a few weeks. Nevertheless, it arrived at port here in Georgia last Saturday. I got a call from my dealer on Saturday....the only chip that is missing at this point is the chip that runs the "MercedesMe" apps....that's the one that does the SOS call, internet connectivity, real time traffic....I guess anything that runs the MercedesMe functions.
Since those aren't critical services (and have nothing to do with the car itself), they will release the car to the dealer (and customer) as long as I sign a legal waiver stating that I'm aware and agree to delivery etc. etc. As soon as the module is available, I just have to take it to the dealer and they'll install the chip for no charge obviously. It's either that, or it sits at the port for who knows how long, last I read is probably December/January. So I signed it and hopefully it's on its way to Atlanta. If there are no more delays, should hopefully be able to pick it up on Saturday. Awesome. Jerry (my guy at RBM ATL) said that I was lucky I ordered it when I did....there are basically NO E 53s out there for sale, he said it's a real mess...I still have never seen a new '21 E 53 or 63s...maybe I'll end up having a "rare" car....ha!. The E class inventory was hit really hard since they won Motor Trend's Car of the Year and also since they conserved a lot of critical chips for the new upcoming S class. Anyway, hopefully I'll have some good news this weekend.....especially since my "check oil" light came on my car this past week! Talk about timing! - Buck

Buck - Good for you. Would do the same.
Wish I could convince the wife to move to the E-Class. But, she loves her C350. Maybe I can get her "Check Oil" light to come on.
