I am seriously considering this amplifier to pair with Sonus Faber Guarneri Evolution. Anyone here own or hear one? 40 watts of high current, pure Class A power. According to my research, it should be plenty of power for my smaller room...we'll see I guess. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated. Very curious to hear opinions on the built in MC phono stage too...

Very interested in this amp myself. I am going to demo one early next week, I can give you my impression if you like. Not that it would mean much

I owned the previous model. Drove 2905's + Harbeth SHL5's with it. Had PLENTY of welly with 20 wpc - I never ran out of head room. Phono stage is quite good. Most tube like SS I have heard. Big. Heavy. Doesn't get too hot for a Class A but needs air around it. Also has a good headphone amp in it.

You may find it a very attractive option.

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. Just ordered the L-550AX. Won't be here for about a week though...I am anxious. Really hoping this will be a good fit for me and my system. I'd really love it if the phono stage is good enough to get rid of my separate Moon 310LP. I'd really like to simplify and get rid of all the boxes and cabling.

What cabling did you find to be a good match with the Luxman?

Pleasure and congratulations.

Hope you like phono stage as well.

Gosh can't remember what I used now; besides I am something of a cable agnostic. A few guys here use the Tempo Electric cables. I think they sound wonderful at a very moderate price - but, and it is a but, they are very stiff.

Arrived this morning! Photos below:

Turntable is at dealer right now having a new Sumiko Blackbird installed.
Should have it later this afternoon...anxious to hear the Luxman phono stage.

Nice!
I just got back from my demo. I really enjoyed the Luxman L-550AX and I think you are going to find it a very capable amp. I felt like I could listen to it all day and smile (which is what I am after). I was also rather impressed with the 505u. I did not listen to it for long but the short time I did it was very musical.
