Default Ayre Accessories

Doesn’t this always happen- you buy a new component, in my case the C-5xeMP - then you start looking at all the ways you can make your experience even better by checking out the accessories made especially for that exact purpose.
So…as I was on the Ayre website, perusing the accessories section, I came across the Myrtle wood blocks Ayre Acoustics Myrtle Wood Blocks and the System Enhancement Disc Ayre Acoustics CD that even Wes Phillips from Stereophile Ayre C-5xe universal disc player The MP Upgrade, July 2009 | Stereophile.com wrote it made a noticeable improvement.
Has anyone actually used these “magic potions” and is it real or just much ado about nothing.

The Myrtle Wood Blocks are sourced from Cardas.

If you want your Ayre to sound better, put it on top of a sheet of plywood resting on a partially inflated inner tube.

You might be surprised to find out that will make your amp sound worse....

While the inner tube thing works on occasion for a turntable, it's dreadful for a power amplifier.

If you really want to get a little more sound out of your Ayre power amps, try one of the HRS or SRA platforms. There's some real science there that will work to your advantage.

A sheet of plywood is highly resonant and all an inner tube will do is make is sound dead.

Been there, done that, it doesn't work. And it seriously detracts from the gorgeous casework on those amps.

Running the Ayre disc through your system will usually make a slight diff in how "open" it sounds, especially
if you don't have a lot of hours on the clock. Definitely worth a try.

I have tried the Ayre Myrtle wood blocks in 3 diff systems, before i came to the conclusion that for any sound improvements they are USELESS,but they look "Nice" and can give you that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you buy an "Upgrade"....all jokes aside i honestly found them pointless for a sound improvment.......nothing changed soundwise in 3 diff systems.
