Cyril.......Thanks for the link. The Ayre MX-R amplifiers and KX-R preamplifier makes a gorgeous combo. in my opinion. I think I could be happy with this gear replacing one of my McIntosh systems, but I'm not sure which one.

Dan...I think the answer is easy: you replace like for like - the SS Mac system for Ayre driving your EB1is. In addition, I see the sale of your 2 MC275s to partially fund the MC2301s for the studio system

I really like my KX-R preamp. I'll have to seriously consider adding the MX-R amps next year. Although my MC402 is really nice and no slouch when it comes to performance.
