The earlier ones, the 3 liters of the 70's era were even nastier. That turbo lag was an absolute joke but once it kicked in, I think only an F-15 was faster in the rate of acceleration. I'll never forget that feeling but my friend warned me ahead of time to make sure the wheels were pointed straight ahead. He also had some work done to it at the time.

The prices on the earlier Porsches have been going up and up.

In my 87’ Turbo, I put in N02 and placed 220lbs of sandbags in the trunk (for real)

Sure got rid of the Turbo lag.

Sure got rid of the Turbo lag.
The understeer was very pronounced in the earlier cars. Lift oversteer was also better than any coffee to wake the driver up.

They’ve come a long way for sure. It would have been easier to put the engine up front where they belong for proper weight distribution but the Germans are stubborn.

Default 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S - on order

I went from a series of manual Corvettes to a 8 speed automatic C7. Yes, I miss the third pedal all the time except in traffic and on the track. My automatic ‘slush box’ is faster than I could be in a manual.

If your car is only an ‘around town’ DD, get a manual if you can. If it is going to see the track and you also drive highway distances (which inevitably have hour plus waits for accidents), hey the automatic.

Plus, the PDK is simply awesome.

Hands down more efficient. PDK and dual clutch in general is phenomenal on the track.

All the supercars have evolved away from manuals. A manual is only good for a leasure drive by comparison. 0-60 under 3 sec cars just don’t go with a three pedal setup anymore.

I’ll miss the manuals for sure but they don’t make sense in anything even remotely close to today’s top sports cars.
