I've been enjoying this...
Vivaldi: Concerto For 2 Violins In C RV 507 Concerto for 2 Violins in B flat major, RV 529 Concerto for 2 Violins in C minor, RV510 Concerto in C major for Two Violins, RV 505 Concerto for strings No. 8, RV 127 Concerto for 2 Violins in B flat major, RV527 Concerto for Two Violins, RV513 Giuliano Carmignola (violin) & Amandine Beyer (violin) Gli incogniti  I read about this disc in the December issue of Gramophone. Definitely agree that the performances burst with enthusiasm - two violin titans having fun with excellent music. A fun disc to listen to. The recording is natural, but I wish it had more bite.

Mendelssohn - Symphony #5 "Reformation"
Vienna/von Dohnanyi London ffrr True to its thematic material, this work is practically a religious experience (especially if you're in to plagal cadences) and is forever on my "Desert Island" music list. I find it moving, cleansing, and a most wonderful homage to the Big Guy by one of the most inventive and versatile composers of his era. Alas, young Felix, you left us too soon. This particular recording is just right.
