Default Maxima Amator with MA12000 or E800 or Diablo 300

I'm trying to build a new system based around the Maxima Amator.

1. McIntosh MA12000 (already includes DAC)

2. Accuphase E800 with DAC-50

3. Gryphon Diablo 300 with DAC module

When I had the Guarneri Memento with C3850, A200, and DG58, the sound was very good, but a little soft. It was better with the Nagra. More detail, better bass, more musical, and more toe tapping.

I believe the Maxima Amator has that old school Sonus Faber sound, probably similar to the Guarneri Memento. So the Accuphase may not be a good match. Anyone has experience with Sonus Faber and MA12000 or Diablo 300?

I played with MC611/C1100 combo with Electra Amator III. Great synergy - great combination. Loved it.
Then grandkids came for a few days. Kids play and push each other. Standmounts had to go.
Maxima Amators were not available at the time. So got Joseph Audio Perspective2 Graphene. Also have a pair of Rel 9ti subs. Great synergy - love it. Still there are times I miss the sound of JA.

One thing to note is MA12000 DAC has HDMI arc input. I subscribe to YouTube Premium as well as Tidal. It is fun to watch music videos.

I would not necessarily expect the Maxima Amators to have the “old school” Sonus Faber sound. The reviews I’ve read indicate that they are flatter through the midrange and a little more elevated in the treble than the Sf speakers of yore. They should play well with good solid state gear, but I’d definitely try to hear them before deciding on amplification.

Good point.
