who cares when these high precision cd players are built like a tank. Luxman, Accuphase, Esoteric aren't like the ones in the radioshack store.

Well that's true sacd, but bare in mind if you move on the player within the warranty period that could be a deal breaker for a potential buyer...

Nope. Checked few months back. I would say it's closer to US price than it is to Japan. HK is the place for 230v.

There is little correlation between build quality and reliability. Few players were built as well as the original Sony SCD-1 and SCD-777ES, yet these players had close to a 100% failure rate.

Accuphase has a long reputation for reliability

totally understand what you're saying but.... when I can save $10,000+ I'd take my chance. Probability of these (not just Accuphase but Luxman/Esoteric) undeniably the best craftsmanship cd player going down in 1-3 year is almost 0. even if it goes bad and fix it at my own expense, I'd save lots more than $10g end of the day.

Sure, it's a chance I'd take too! How long have you owned the DP-720 and where did you get it? I'd be happy to jump on that bandwagon myself.
