True—I was going to account for it and not draw any permanent conclusions. Just a fun exercise.

A one off amp or perhaps a phono pre amp or two. I also have a boatload of the tubes Dennis uses in his amps, and will put some up for sale in the Marketplace as well when I have some time. Stay tuned…
That’s great news! I subscribed a month or so ago for this very reason, but didn’t find anything compelling yet to purchase. Hopefully, that will change soon!

Default Go get it

Ad is up.

Also, anyone looking for good guaranteed tubes, I have a lot of (mostly) used but guaranteed good tubes for all of Dennis Had's amps. Anyone need something, let me know through a PM, and I'll also guarantee a good price as compared to your favorite auction site.

For example, I pulled three different 5Y3Gs from my stash. I'll have them up this weekend....

Amp looks great. I've been impressed With the 2a3 amps I've heard in the past. I don't have the speakers for them though. Plus, Dennis has turned me into a crazy tube roller! I have so many pentodes now!

Dennis should know that someone is listing an old, junky kt88 amp using the description Dennis Had Inspire. Should probably have the listing taken down.

He is aware. Apparently it is difficult to get Ebay to remove such items. We ae working on some new protections to help with this....

Default Here we go...

A while ago I had asked about modifying my amp so that I could use 12v tubes on the input. Got some helpful responses but in the end I decided against modding the amp. There was just too much chance of really screwing it up. I found someone on Head-Fi that had the answer. It's an external power supply just for tube heaters and a custom adapter.

Here's what it looks like in action. Using a 14n7.

This is a variable supply. I spent a little extra on that instead of a dedicated 12.6v supply in case I wanted to try some 4v tubes in the future. The adjustment knob is really touchy. 12.5 is as close as I've been able to get without overshooting. It's close enough. He originally designed it so that folks could use gu50 tubes. It cost me a little over $100, would be less if I just got the 12.6 version. If I had thought about it I probably could have arranged it so that the wire would be routed towards the back of the amp instead of the front. Oh well.

Now I can use all of my fancy 12sn7 tubes like the coveted Tungsol round plate with black glass and even 12v only versions like the 12sx7 and the 2c50. This lowly 14n7 with angled plates sounds awfully good. Think I'll let that ride for a while.
