Update: I sold all my vintage tube gear about a week ago. Never thought I'd part with it.

In the meantime, I'm using a capable VTL IT85, which is surprisingly good after some judicious tube rolling and other adjustments. But my goal is still to go SS and maybe even get off the tube roller coaster after all these years. Having said that, the VTL is darn easy to use, quite attractive-looking, requires far fewer tubes than my old gear and sounds so good that I may keep it along with whatever solid-state integrated I ultimately purchase. One might say "embarrassment of riches" or maybe even "wretched excess."

What the heck, it's only audio.... and everything is four figures or less.

Accuphase has a dedicated DAC card if you want to go with a single box solution. The great thing about Accuphase is it has a house sound leaning towards a slight warmth with the ability to extract the dimensional space out of the recording. Beyond that it presents your source as is, so you should definitely hear any upgrade you make to your DAC.
Thanks for the 411 on Merason and Border Patrol. Those DAC's are intriguing to me given the way I like music reproduced in my home. Border Patrol offers a 14-day trial period, but I'm not sure about Merason. One other thing, I found some excellent Sylvania 12Ax7s and am running them in my jolida DAC with good results.

Does the dc300 do ADC of analog inputs or would the dc300 serve as a pure volume control for my dac without doing further conversion? I don't see it mentioned in any literature

Default P-7300 with McIntosh C53 preamp

Hello everybody,

I am now running a McIntosh Combo C-53-Mc462 on my Boenicke w11.

These speakers are terrific but are very hungry. They made for instance a Gryphon Diablo 250 sweat up to burn the fuse, overheat etc...

I am quite happy with the sound, soundstage is amazing, bass are very good etc..., i am really enjoying my system, but not a big fan of this Mc Look and i think Accuphase is much more well built. (before this e-260 i had a e-205 for more than 30 years)

but... as Accuphase lover, i have a small e-260 on my second system driving Old Cabasse Clipper II

I have now an opportunity to catch a P-7300 for a nice price, but will have to keep the C-53 for the moment. As it is a second hand and the seller is 150km away, i won't be able to test it on site.

My Question are:

1. Will the p-7300 have enought power to drive these boenicke w11, (sensitivity around 86db, impedence can drop up to 2ohm)

2. Does Mcintosh pream matches Acuphase Power amp?

I ran for a while my small E-260 on these speakers, sound was nice but it clearly missed power to make the speakers give their best.

What do you think?

Have nice day

In my humble opinion, Canton (any model) the sound is intoxicating.

Disclaimer; I am an authorized dealer for both.

+1.
My E-280 did not play well with the Canton Reference 9K, which were much happier with more power or tubes.
However, I would agree that an easy-to-drive 2-way, like the Devore 0/93 or Micro might be just the ticket.

Hello audio enthusiasts. Seeking humble advice from you folks. I am considering buying a new cd player for my redbook cd collection. I'm between the Accuphase DP-450 CD player and the Luxman D-03X. I've always been drawn to that special "Japanese sound". Any suggestion? Pros and cons?
