Two Dot,
I'm not a TT expert, and I don't know what your 'urge' is based on (other than it sounds sublime), but I would verify that everything has been done (cables, power cord, cartridge, preamp, etc) to optimize your setup before I would go looking for a TT replacement. I'm in the process of going thru the same exercise.

I think that I am getting the most out of my system.
I have done the power cords, IC, speaker cables, my system is all McIntosh so has great synergy... I just know that it is an OLS table, with old interconnects, old power cord... I will be auditioning some speakers soon, maybe that will cure me. |

Hi Two dot,
For your budget 3 to 4 k $ if I read correctly, I would go for the Keel. I think it will make bigger changes than upgrading the arm or the cartridge if you consider your cartridge OK. You can see what Stereophile says about it. I think Rigidity and Isolation are the most important things in a TT, after the cartridge of course. But I must admit that like Serge, Dan and others, I would not change anything if I would consider the sound of my TT "superb". Why not investing in a better phono stage for example ? I'm considering myself a fully loaded LP12 SE with the new Radikal and the Urika, since I never heard any source sounding that good. That's just a psychological problem with the price : it would cost more than the new car of my wife !!! Best wishes, Jérôme
