Romain Pilon - Falling Grace

5th album by the Berklee educated French guitarist, in a very competent trio formation which includes Brad Mehldau's drummer.

Romain Pilon - Guitar
Yoni Zelnik - Bass
Jeff Ballard - Drums

Olivia Trummer - For You

Enjoyable work by the German artist but I appreciate her talent more as a pianist on her earlier releases

Olivia Trummer - Piano, Vocals
Fabrizio Bosso - Trumpet
Rosario Bonaccorso - Bass
Nicola Angelucci - Drums

Jacob Karlzon - Wanderlust

Some electro influence in the Swedish pianist work, won't be to everyone's taste, I did enjoy it. Worth mentioning guest artists

Jacob Karlzon - Piano, Keyboards
Morten Ramsbøl - Bass
Rasmus Kihlberg - Drums
Mathias Eick - Trumpet (Guest)
Dominic Miller - Guitar (Guest)

Helge Lien Trio - Revisited

I like the house sound of the Norwegian trio, although I would welcome a touch of new flavor

Helge Lien - Piano
Johannes Eick - Bass
Knut Aalefjær - Drums

Cécile McLorin Salvant - Ghost Song

Well, I guess some aficionados would have placed this release on top of this list... I'm struggling a bit with CMS lately, she's definitely one of the most technically accurate vocalist of her generation, but maybe sometimes a little too sophisticated? I'm sure many will disagree with me

Very good observations Joel.
No so many good new releases.

Cécile's latest: we didn't even listen to the whole thing, and we're big fans.
Helge Lien: so so.

We did enjoy Pilon's album. That was a good one.

We rapidly stopped these:

And this was truly awful:

Luckily, there is a lot of good fine stuff.

Dino Rubino - Gesuè

A little soft toned, some tunes better than others, but pleasant overall for an easy listening by the Italian/Sicilian pianist and trumpet player in his quartet formation

Recorded in 2020, new release, via Qobuz 24/88.2

Dino Rubino - Piano
Piero Delle Monache - Saxophone
Daniele Di Bonaventura - Bandoneon
Marco Bardoscia - Bass

Max Roach - Deeds, Not Words
via Qobuz

In the Stereophile of April, there is a great article about the jazz drummers.
I must have added about 40 albums to my library (luckily I could find most recommendations searching through Qobuz), the rest were already in my favourites.
Max Roach has always been one of my reference drummers.

Hank Mobley - Soul Station
Blue Note Classics vinyl reissue series

Another great Blue Note reissue. Blue Note has been on a roll with their various vinyl reissue series the last few years, since Don Was took over I guess. Who'd have thought he'd be such a great jazz revivalist?
