Thanks. Got so excited about all this Focal Electra talk that I just bought a pair of the 1008BeII's. Should have them by the end of the week. Am guessing that the Electra line may go away, based on the price I was given. Really looking forward to having that silly Focal logo squiggle on the front of my speakers. Am sorry to give up the piano red for piano black, but think it is something I can live with.

Picked up the 1008BeII's about 2-hours ago. Thinking I need to 'exercise' the mid/woofer am listening to Stevie Ray's "Texas Flood" (sadly, for real). Truly an immediate improvement in sound quality over the Chorus 807W's they replace. Fast, clean and surprisingly deep are the descriptive words that jump to mind.

Nice, I am glad you are liking them so far. My 1038's are keeping me happy at this point and I think I got a winner.

I owned a pair of 807W with piano finish. Paired with the 800W sub and a Peachtree D65 they made for a fantastic first step into this incredible hobby.

I'm sometimes tempted to find another pair for my loft, but with so many other speakers out there to experience, I doubt it will ever happen.

Congratulations on the 1008Be's!

Spearit Audio in Northampton, MA has my piano red 807Ws now if you decide to get serious.

Thanks. Am very pleased with the up-grade. Wish that I had more time to enjoy them, but serious 'ear-time' will have to wait for cooler weather.

Default 1028/1038 owners

Digging up an old thread, because I managed to listen to a pair of the latest 1008 2 days ago, with a Naim integrated (streamer, wifi, etc) and was thoroughly impressed to say the least. The speakers were just 2 feet from the back wall, but the sound depth was very good. It was an open layout in the store and maybe that helped too. I was surprised because the Naim was 80W/channel but drove the 1008s with good authority. Great voicing and imaging - kind of uncanny (in a good way).
How many of you guys still have your 1028/1038s with you? I want to upgrade my speakers that can go at least 30Hz. I am am worried that these speakers will not do that. How is your experience on the bottom end on these speakers?

Thanks!

1038s would be a best option of the 2 but still they are going to be rolled off a bit at 30hz.

Maybe the 1008s with subs?

I got rid of my 1028BEs a few months back, but not for more bass but wanted to move to something more layed back the forward Focals aren't very forgiving with some of my guilty pleasure music.

Thanks for the feedback DrTone. People do have preferences and I do like the slightly laid back presentation on my Quad 21L. But when I heard the 1008s, they were in a completely different league. With the Naim amplifier, it did not sound "in your face". If anything, the speakers kind of disappeared. I forgot to mention - I also auditioned the Monitor Platinum PL200 (or was it 300...not sure). Though these were considerable expensive than the 1008, they did not disappear like the Focals and the music seem to come through the speakers.

Your signature shows Wilson Sabrinas. Are these the one you move on to, after the 1038?
