Default Speaker-advice

I need your advice. I am looking to buy speakers, and I want Burmester.

My budget allows me to buy second-hand: B20, B25, B30, 961 mk3 or 022.

My listening-room is quite large, but I sit close to the speakers.

Right now there is a pair of B20 for sale for a good price. I listened to them once at the dealer, and I really liked them, but maybe a little thin in the mids, for male-voices etc. Then I decided that B25 probably would be better.

Am I stupid if I buy the B20? Do you think I will regret it? On the other hand, I do not know when there will be any B25, B30 or 961 mk3 for sale. It can take a long time.

When it comes to audio, you are never stupid. I don't have experience with Burmester speakers but usually each higher model gives you a little more. I am sure others will give better advice. My opinion is buy the most speaker you can afford. You can't go wrong with anything Burmester.

Someone once told me the 961 mk3 might have a slightly warmer presentation. Maybe better for vocals.

Hi.

With your combo (956 MK2 + 035) I highly suggest to give a listen to the B30 and 961 MK3.

The B30's has a better bass frequencies compare with the 961's, but the 961's at my ears has an overall and preferable sound presentation, as well as refinement, body and texture.

So my personal preference is surely the 961 MK3.

Ok, I will keep it cool then and wait for a B30 or 961 to enter the market.
There is no place near me where I can listen to them, unfortunately.
Thanx for your help.

I spent a forenoon comparing the 961 to the B&W 802D and the Vienna Acoustics "The Kiss". The Burmesters came out best for me. I also compared with the Vivid Audio B1's, and that was a very clear winner. But the Burmester was a nice second. 961 way better than B30.

If I buy two sets of B25, and glue them on top of eachother, with the top ones upside-down, won't I get a pair of B100 then? The same tweeter and midrange elements in perfect d'appolito configuration!

Wouldn't that be a B50 (B25+B25) ? Ha!

B25 x 4 = One B100
