Glenn, perhaps I could ask you a question or two. TMR has a pair of Dali Epicon 2 bookshelf speakers up for sale. They pretty much occupy the rarefied place at the top of the line for Dali, the way yours do for Triangle. Do you (or others that may see this) have an opinion on them? Also, would you recommend purchasing from TMR? I've purchased a few smaller things from them and they've always been good to deal with. I don't know if I'm allowed to start a thread, but if I can one on Dali speakers might not be a bad thing. Maybe Usher speakers also as I've made several upgrades to mine with spectacular results that I would like to share with others. Actually the upgrades I've made would probably work just as well with other brands of speakers too. Also thanks to you too robfine for your great advice

Glenn, just one more thing. The rack that you have all of your equipment in is very nice. Is that something you purchased or did you build it yourself. If you did, do you have plans or could you steer me to the components I would have to buy? Thanks

Home-made.
I visited our local hardwood emporium and had them cut the wood I selected to 2.75" square by whatever your desired length might be. I did not really care what wood, other than it was dimensionally stable (will not warp, etc.) as I plan to paint once my wife decides on a proper color. ![]() The front-to-back pieces were all 'knotched' 2.75" x 2.75" at each end to 1/2 the 2.75" height. This securely "locks" the rack together when assembled. The 1" threaded rod is from our local steel purveyor, along with 2.5" washers & nuts (need two washers & nuts per joint). I drilled holes in the wood on 22" centers left-to-right and 19" centers front-to-back. This fits the granite sink cut-outs I purchased from our local granite counter-top supplier (cheap, as they are waste for them) and had them polish all sides - again, quite inexpensive as saves them the cost of disposing of a piece that is normally waste for them. If I were to do again I would go with 24" centers on width and a 20" center front-to-back to provide a bit more 'freedom' in placing shelves and ease of use with a larger TT plinth. The rack and shelves are very heavy at 400#+. Add to that the weight of the gear and it is going nowhere. Make sure you have the rack located where you want it before placing the shelves & gear on it. Very difficult to move once you have it fully loaded. Works well of me in my basement listening area sitting on a poured concrete floor. Using a cell-phone app I've not been able to detect any vibrations/reflections in the audio range. I used acoustic rubber under each corner of the granite shelves and the wood cut from a roll of I purchased from Ivan, but have forgotten the name. I do recall that Ivan said it was the last one he could get as they were no longer providing it in that format. If I were to do again I would purchase appropriate sized 'dots' from Herbie's to use under each corner of the shelves. I would give some thought to stainless rod/nuts/washers if to do again. However, that would drive the price considerably. If memory serves I've got about $400 in the rack with the six granite shelves. I originally ordered the wood with enough length for an additional 3 shelves, but decided I only needed the six and cut the width accordingly.

Glenn, thanks so much for the extremely thorough explanation on the rack. I'm still a little confused on the notching part. If I did this it would be a protracted over the winter type project. So with that said, if it wouldn't be too much trouble could you snap a couple of pictures of the corners? Maybe one looking down also. Of course all of this at your convenience, no hurry whatsoever. The ad on the Canton 9k speakers expires in about 5 hours. Definitely thinking about it, especially considering their 14-day return policy. Thinking of offering $1,700 which would have them about $1,900 or so at my door. I do expect they would reject that offer but you don't know until you try

Cranked up the INT-25 to 55 on the volume (max is 63) knob and was getting 91-92 at my seated listening position. Not bad for a pair of monitors and 25wpc of Class A.
Best part was the Duetto's just sounded louder with no distortion and no feedback thru my vinyl rig. Its been quite some time (many years) since I cranked a system this loud. Getting close.

My SPL meter only goes down to 50. It bounces between reading LOW and up to 50-51 when I move around with no music playing. My 'man-cave/listening room' is in the basement and we live at the end of a long block-cul-de-sac type arrangement with one entry point at the far end from us. Woods on two side of us is also a help. No thru traffic and very quiet.
