Pass Labs X600.8

I’ve been very satisfied with our Pass X260.8s. They deliver a beautiful sound. However, after the demo of the EMM MTRX2s (and some other amps) I determined I definitely need more power. Everything was better. But EMM never gave me the Class A power that they were delivering.…

I’m considering some Pass X600.8 monos to go with my present system. They will deliver more Class A. 1200 watts of power into 4 ohm speakers, vs. the 520 I presently have.

This said, is there another set of “monos“ you would suggest? They need to be SS, powerful. I’d like to spend no more the 17K + the trade in of the 260s. After this if I feel I still need them, I’ll get some new subs.

I’m also researching BAT VK-655SE Monos.

Apparently the current lead time for Pass Labs is 10+ months, so you may want to consider this in your plans if waiting is unappealing.

No I have zero knowledge on BAT.
Personally I think staying with Pass is a solid choice.

We’ve added another amp for evaluation. The Soulution 501 monos. We’re still attempting to get a BAT eval as well.

Right now the Pass 600s are in the lead, but that could change as soon as we examine these other amps.

How hot do those Pass amps run. They consume 600 watts at idle.

I spoke to Pass repeatedly on this issue. Our present Pass X260.8s run warm - definitely not hot.

According to Pass the X600.8s will run almost twice as warm as the 260s…. So there will be a difference, however I don’t think - at least I’m hoping - they won’t run me out of the room. The electric bill will go up app $10 per month as well.
