Speaking of salvage, now that the ship has been abandoned and adrift, I can pretty much guarantee a large salvor is being retained by the ships insurer to recover whatever is possible. Ship included. Those contracts can be worth millions.

Per the article in the WP it is just under 10,000' deep where it sank.
Hopefully, most of the fossil fuel in both the ship and cars burned before it sank.
Now the insurance companies can battle it out. The one sure winner in all this will be the attorneys.

About $438 million in losses. Early speculation is one of the EV's batteries started to burn. She went down in just over 2 miles of ocean so a submersible should be able to survey her, but finding out the real cause will probably never be known unless the ships crew have specific knowledge before they abandoned her.

Yes I also read that EV batteries were the culprit of the fire.
