Gene Krupa meets Buddy Rich on World Record Club.
The first Jazz I bought, as a teenager, some fifty years ago. Yes it is in perfect condition I respected my records even as a kid, thank goodness. |

Yes! That is how I like Sassy. In a small ensemble. Without the damn strings. Oscar Peterson, Joe Pass, Louie Bellson, Ray Brown accompany her perfectly. Very good recommendation from this thread. I'll like it as much as this, also from her later career:

Chet Baker Trio - Chet's Choice a Criss Cross LP recorded in 1985. Wonderful late-period Chet with Philip Catherine on guitar and Jean-Louis Rassinfosse on bass.

Jim Hall - Concierto - Pure Pleasure 2-LP reissue of album originally on CTI, Hall is joined by Paul Desmond on alto, Chet Baker on trumpet, Roland Hanna on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Steve Gadd (it IS a CTI release) on drums. Gorgeous versions of Joaquin Rodrigo's "Conceirto de Aranjuez" and Cole Porter's "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To".
The reissue is recorded hot and will test the tracking ability of your phono cartridge - this LP served as the canary in the coal mine that it was time for my previous cartridge to go.
