Default What setting do i use? Large or small speakers?

Hi. I am using dynaudio confidence c2 speakers with a bryston sp3 and 6bsst amp. Should I use the large or small speaker setting? I am also using a 15" velodyne subwoofer which has its own built in amp. Thanks.

Are the woofers bottoming out on high level playback?

-- I'd say cross them at around 60 Hz or so (experiment); so set them to 'Small'. IMO

James,

The subwoofer has its own bass setting so I wont allow it bottom out, I adjust it depending on my mood for more or less bass and type of music that is playing.

Regards,
Eddy

Hi Eddy

No I meant the woofers in the Mains - are they bottoming out? The reason I ask is one of the benefits of working with Bryston over the years is I have been in many sound studios and movies are made with all the front speakers (left/center/right) set to fullrange and the .1 channel is only for effects.

I have always felt you want to replicate what the sound engineer intended so if you can use Large in the front 3 and use the sub for effects .1 channel.

I see what you mean. They don't bottom out, (power rms 300 w 4 ohms). Thanks for your advice, I will set it to large.

I have my 50a's at large(set)and running 28's for power.
Movies the sub(1812) is set at 80hz.
Music they also are at large and sub is X-over at 64hz(for now).
Mains sound nice and full compared to the small setting.
Movies+concert blurays I can go to -14 on the processor dial and it's close to being there,no ill effects here that I can hear.
