Default BDP-2 vs. BDP-1 USB

Good afternoon James (and anyone else who wants to chime in),

What are the practical differences between the BDP-2 and BDP-1 USB in terms of features and sound quality. For me, either would be feeding my BDA-2 (maybe in the future, a BDA-3) in a nice, but modest (certainly in AA terms) system which has an optimized Mac Mini (to likely be replaced soon by a BDP-something), BDA-2 feeding a PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium int amp to Thiel CS 2.3s (possibly changing to something like Aerial 6Ts or something in same class in the next year-- hopefully less)? If I go USB, assume connection would be WW Platinum.

Thanks

I have the BDP-2. I've read several times though that the functional difference is that the BDP-2 will load/process quicker, and the additional connection options. They should sound identical though. So if the BDP-1 USB fits your connectivity, you could save some money there and sink that into those Aerial 6T's (I LOVE my 7T's).

Hi Rob

The soundcard is the same in the BDP-1 USB so sonically they will perform the same.

The BDP-2 offers more loading speed and more flexibility of inputs and outputs - (AES USB and BNC out as well as USB out etc.).

Make sure your DAC offers ASYNC USB if you go with the BDP-1 USB which the BDA-2 does

James
