I’m thinking this could be a fun little match for this smallish room.

Any thoughts or suggestions before I plunge?
Do it. You'll kick yourself for waiting so long....

Thanks

I have always been told there is nothing like it. I’ll keep a lookout. The one I saw this morning for sale is now gone.....

Snooze you lose I guess.

Gee, whatever should we do with almost 100 year old antiques?

Life's too short to waste precious electrons on inferior amps....

As I left, Dennis was getting ready to pack up the toobs for use in his home 45 amp. I'm sure they're getting plate current as I type.....

Congratulations on you purchase Dennis,
I have no luck in buying stuff like that. I just shipped some back this morning loose base and rattles, this is the second time I have had to do it. I will keep tying on the Bay wish me luck

Just noticed the dual 6C/J5 drivers on this KT170 amp. Cool [emoji41]!

It's going to be a KT170 amp.
It can also run KT150 and KT120 tubes.
I will be documenting the build from start to finish.
Hi Straitwire,
Thanks for sharing. Glad to see it. Curious to learn what you'll bias the KT150 / KT170 tubes at after some testing. Keep us posted, Thanks.

Continuing to test many different tube configurations in my Inspire PSE.

A couple of days ago I decide to try a KT120/KT150 combo. I own only two of each, purchased for my Inspire HO. I liked both tubes in the HO.

So I install them with one KT120 and one KT150 per channel. Let it warm up for a bit and then play some background music for over an hour before hitting it with some of my familiar demo tracks.

Wow! It sounds great! So smooth with great vocals. Good detail with no edginess and powerful bass. A bit less forward than with the KT66s I liked so much. I've had KT77s in it for the past couple of weeks and liked them a lot. Popping in the KT120/KT150 combo, the sound became a bit warmer with a bit less high frequency energy. Played Mark Knopfler's "The Ragpicker's Dream" and the vocals were stunning, within a big wide soundstage coming out of what they call a "black" background.

Who knows if I will ever decide which tubes / tube combo I like best? I'm just slowly rotating through my tubes, noting what I like best about each.

Tempts me to pick up another pair of each, so I can run a quad of like tubes, but I have so many tubes now and those KT150s are pricey.
