Default Music Server components on Shunyata PS10 power distributor...

So.... last night I replaced the Shunyata Hydra 4 that was powering my Pace Internet router, Mac Mini ROON Core*, and EtherREGEN Ethernet switch* in the "music server room" with the new Shunyata PS10 power distributor (which has -24 dB of noise reduction, BTW) and, man!

The improvement was NOT subtle.

'Mo betta for any audio attribute you'd care to discuss. Better....everything. Everywhere. Holy smokes!

Okayyy...

The PS10 makes for the perfect power distributor for "networked" components comprising a music server system, particularly if that music server system is "remote" to the main audio rack.

Next step is to power the Pace Router with a proper linear power supply instead of it's blasted SMPS...urg.

*-these are powered by Shunyata Venom 14 NR power cords (including previously with the Hydra 4 as well)

I just happened upon this product and thread today while looking for something to use for networking equipment and the like. It looks like it doesn’t have any surge/transient protection built-in (similar to PS8 in that regard), nor does it have any built in noise reduction or filtering aside from the built-in Venom V12 NR cable, correct?

I don’t see an official product page yet.

Actually, it has both of those things. The PS10 has a Carling electromagnetic breaker for surge/transient protection and it has not one, but three "levels" of noise reduction, one provided by the power cord, and then two more, one for each bank of 5 outlets, and, each bank of 5 outlets is completely isolated from the other bank. So, you could use one bank for connecting HiFi audio components, and use the other bank for home theatre components. Or...if you've got "networked" audio components, put the networked components on one bank, and the analog amplification components on the other bank.

Total noise reduction is -24 dB.

If you send me a PM with your email address, I'll send you a PDF of the product brochure.

But the website says it should have a defender as well which is why I have held back buying one.

“This electromagnetic breaker silently protects against over-current conditions that could harm electronics. This safety breaker resets by the touch of a button. For transient protection, Shunyata Research recommends its Defender Series products, which can be added to the wall outlet or the PS10 at an affordable price”

Respectfully, the statement on the website for using the Defender is a recommendation, but it's not a requirement for safely using a PS10.

Question re the PS10. I have a Hydra Delta D6, but now need more outlets. Was thinking of getting the PS10 to add the outlets. Would the right approach be to plug the PS10 into the Delta D6 or directly into the wall? Thanks for any help.

Timely post. I was just looking for something to upgrade the digital side of the system (music server, TV, FM tuner, etc.). Anyone know how this compares to the FURMAN - Elite 15 PFi Power Conditioner? I’m currently using a PST-8 Sound Power Station Series Line Conditioner on this set up.

I like the idea of plugging it into the D6. The PS10 strikes me as the equivalent of an extension cord with 10 outlets given the captive cord. It allows Venom V12 NR to be extended to multiple components.

I’ll be curious as to how Puma answers this.
