Default TuneTots in a main system?

When I asked my dealer what I might do to "soften" the sound on my system without sacrificing resolution and other attributes, he recommended swapping out my B&W 805s for Wilson TuneTots. I have not heard the TuneTots, though am a big fan of Wilson. OTOH, Wilson's marketing of them on top of shelves and as desk monitors gives me pause. Very different than other manufacturers' positioning of similarly sized B&Ws, Focals, Magicos, etc. I would buy the more recently released stands and use a subwoofer.

Just to set aside a couple of obvious responses--WAF and room issues push me hard toward stand mounts, and price is not really an issue in this range.

Anybody there using TuneTots in a full system? Please let me know your experience/thoughts. Thanks

Tune tots sound great. I understand that Wilson is working on a small sub just for this purpose. You may want to check into that.

John Darko loved the Tune Tots used in his main system.

Lately, I’ve been wondering how Tune Tots would work as side/rear surround speakers in a 5.1 or 7.1 system. I don’t think Alida wall mounts are optimal for my room, stand mounts or floor standers work best for me.

Thanks, yes, this was a great review. But since Darko usually reviews more modest components, I was left wondering whether they were awesome, or only awesome compared to $1,000 speakers

Daryl said it himself in a video recently, but now I can't find it! I'll keep trying.

I haven’t hear the Tune Tots, but Wilson Audio makes some outstanding speakers. One of my friends had Alexia 2s before he traded them for a set of Vivid Giyas.

Though I went a different direction, they were a contender for our new system. The Wilson Alexa 2s are rear ported - which IMO requires them to be off the wall a ways - so that put them off my list. But seriously they are excellent speakers. I would expect the TuneTots to be the same.

Hi Peter, Darko does test entry level indeed, but the dCS Bartok, Kii Three, and other more expensive stuff have also been reviewed by him. I think he has a pretty good understanding of how a 10K component can/should sound.

OK--it took approximately 15 seconds at my dealer today to hear the stunning difference between the TuneTots and my B&W 805's. The Tots were incredibly smooth and natural, none of the aggressive edge of the B&Ws. (And I've really enjoyed for 805s for the past 4 years.)

Their positioning was not optimized for soundstage, the amp was SS instead of my preferred tubes, and there was no subwoofer. So they were operating at a significant disadvantage. But this did not matter at all--I had a wonderful hour with them.

Per my advance request, 805 D4s were set right next to them for an A/B. I did not bother.

Bringing the demo home tomorrow!
