Are those the ones with the KEF drivers? I've never seen or heard a Chapman speaker. I know he put out a lot of different types of speakers.

Building CJ5's just as fast as I can...
What an amazing sounding preamp.
I have had everyone of our preamps with every mod/upgrade and this one is
the boss.
Can't wait to build one for myself.

6V6 sounding very nice in my PSE. They were shrill and gave me headaches in my HO "on steroids". I have 16 of them now, as the seller included 8 more with the PSE. All are vintage Made in the USA. Very smooth and mellow in the PSE, with a pleasant deep bass.

Anyone know and can share the approximate price range of the CJ5? Can't look it up on eBay as none are being posted. And, as everyone knows, there is no website.

I wish I would tell you anything about them. haha. I've been indulging in the audio stuff for just under three years now and am a complete dummy.

I'd post a pic but not sure how (or if I can with current new member restrictions). It looks like links to other forums are frowned upon but there's a thread with some pics on AK (where I use the same username) if you're so inclined.

I traded a couple emails with Messrs Had and Chapman before pulling the trigger on the amp and both spoke highly of each others work and the potential for pairing the two. Kinda cool to have an entire set up of high end stuff from a couple audio gurus who have been putting out top notch stuff for decades. I know the speakers sound great and the amp already sounds better than the sx7730 just with the schiit sys so I'm excited to hook up the CJ5 next week or so (thanks for the heads up, bearcity).

Anyone know why Dennis uses those "security" screws on the bottom of his chassis? It isn't like they provide any real security from someone opening it. Those bits can be purchased at any hardware store for around $3. All they do is to annoy one a little.

Never heard Allen screws being used for security. They look nice and are quite easy to install IMO. I particularly like them in that the tip of the driver does not want to jump out and scratch the surrounding surface. A fear of mine is that happening while installing a speaker driver and running the tool right through the cone.

Fair enough.

I've never liked them much. I think I stripped the heads on two of them getting them out and then in on my PSE. They were super tight. I'll probably never take them off again, no reason to. But if I were going to do that occasionally, I would replace them with Philips head screws.
